His family relocated to South Florida while he was still a child. He says that living there meant facing hurricanes over the years and those storms sparked his deep interest in weather – the interest has stayed with him ever since.
Not long after finishing college, Cordero began his career at WTXL-TV in Tallahassee. There he spent 5 years reporting on several major storms like the powerful Hurricane Michael in the year 2018. Also, he covered many severe weather events across South Georgia and North Florida like the January 22, 2017 tornado outbreak and even an unusual snow day in Florida.
Between the years 2019 and 2022, Cordero worked at WCHS/WVAH-TV as a meteorologist. He says that the weather in that region brought new challenges. Cordero reported on several snowstorms that he truly enjoys, along with the floods in March of the year 2021 and the ice storms in Kentucky of the year 2021.
