Prior to moving to Minnesota, she was working with WTIC-TV located in Hartford, CT where she was serving as a weekend news anchor. Amelia attended Marywood University in Dunmore, Pennsylvania. She later kick-started her career working with WUSA located in Washington, D.C. There, she was a reporter trainee.
Later on, she went on to join WETM-TV located in Elmira, New York where she was serving as a weekend newscasts anchor. After this, she went on to join WNEP-TV located in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania where she was serving as an anchor and reporter.
The year 2000 and 2013 saw the City Pages Editors name her the Best Newscaster in the Twin Cities. Santaniello was also named a favorite local female television personality by the Readers of The Minnesota Women’s Press.
