While serving KBMT-TV, Elam has won many awards which include, Port Arthur News’ Best Sports Anchor, Best Sportscast in the Press Club of Southeast Texas’ annual contest, and the Southeast Texas Coaches Association Media Person of The Year. In addition, he has always enjoyed covering professional sports Elam’s true passion is covering Southeast Texas high school sports. Also, he has covered Baseball Tournaments, the MLB Playoffs All-Star Game and spring training, the Super Bowl, the NBA All-Star Game, and NCAA Basketball.
Elam was named as the thirteenth member of the “Built Ford Tough Player of The Week advisory board” in 2018. His duties included voting for the Players of The Week for the entire state of Texas including private schools and schools all the way up to Class 6A.
