Barbara Gibbs is an American Anchor working with the ABC11 Eyewitness team where she serves the station as a co-anchor for the morning and noon newscasts since 2001. She co-anchors alongside her fellow anchors, Amber Rupinta, John Clark, and AccuWeather Meteorologist Don Schwenneker.

This was a piece about three homeless men in Raleigh with a desire to be gospel singers. Additionally, she was also nominated for an Emmy nomination for a second feature “Barbara Gibbs” Little Valentine”, which is a story about a young boy in Spring Lake, NC, who touched her heart on Valentine’s Day.
Among her most moving experiences was traveling to New York City with a Durham breast cancer survivor in order to meet “Good Morning America’s ” Robin Roberts. Additionally, she also happened to meet a miracle family, a young mother with cystic fibrosis who survived giving birth and a double-lung transplant. Additionally, she also had the honor of telling a soldier’s story, local veterans in the homebuilding industry built a house for free for a triple amputee Iraq war soldier and his wife.
She enjoys being active in the community and participating every year with talented young, local golfers in the “Jimmy V Jr Celebrity Golf Classic. This was while raising money for pediatric cancer research. In that year, she participated in various fundraising events benefiting groups ranging from the MDA, Building Together Ministries, and the American Cancer Society.
Prior to moving to Raleigh, she was the Morning Anchor/Reporter at WTVQ located in Lexington, KY. Additionally, she also co-anchored the 6 and 11 pm newscasts for the WSLS-TV located in Roanoke, Virginia. Away from work, she enjoys traveling, going home to spend time with friends and family, and college football. She is a huge fan of WAR EAGLE.
