He is also co-anchor of News 2 at 5, 6, and 10 p.m., and host of the Sunday morning political show “This Week with and has been with News 2 for four decades. During this time, his reporting skills have earned him numerous honors and distinctions. Additionally, Bob is a 10-time Emmy Award-winning journalist and a member of the Silver Circle reserved for those working in broadcast journalism for more than 25 years. Moreover, Mueller is also a winner of the coveted George Foster Peabody National Award. For investigative reporting and has been honored with eight National Telly Awards and six National Communicator Awards.

He also received awards from the Associated Press, United Press International, and the Radio Television News Directors Association (RTNDA).  Aside from that, he was inducted into the Tennessee Journalism Hall of Fame in 2018. His continuing commitment to the community earned him the honor of being installed in the Highland High School Hall of Fame in 2009 as well as four TEA School Bell Awards.  Prior to that, he served as a member of the Board of Trust of Rocketown of Nashville for three years. In addition to that, he was there when President Jimmy Carter returned to Plains, Georgia, after leaving the White House. He was the first reporter to talk with Jimmy Carter about the release of the hostages in Iran.

He joined News 2 in 1980 as a field reporter covering the State Capitol. Before that, Mueller also worked for WTVC-TV in Chattanooga, where he was an investigative and state government reporter and anchor. He got his first job in television as a reporter, producer, and anchor for WMBD-TV in Peoria, Illinois. Furthermore, he began his career in broadcasting in high school, working as a radio news reporter/disc jockey.
