For contributing to the NBC15 Morning Show, Brittney won an Emmy Award. In the show, she covered many stories such as the aftermath of George Floyd protests in Madison, Wisconsin. This story won a regional Edward R. Murrow Award. She is really committed to helping people in communities that don’t have as much.
When she was at NBC15, she talked about what was happening every day in Madison. This was during the time when there were big protests for social justice all across the country after George Floyd died. Additionally, she even went to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to talk about what happened after a big storm called Derecho. Besides talking about bad weather, she also reported on things like the riots, COVID-19, elections, and when some communities don’t have as much good health. Moreover, she also uses Spanish when she does her coverage.
In the year 2017, she went to Segovia, Spain, to learn more about Spanish and lived with a family there. She still talks to them even now. Gray did not want language to stop her from helping all kinds of communities. Aside from that, she has interned at WISH-TV for 3 months (May 2018 – Jul 2018). She has also hosted the “Connections Live Show” in Muncie, Indiana for 1 year. Additionally, Brittney has worked for The Ball State Daily News as a Feature Writer.
Besides working as a journalist, Ermon has been working for the University of Minnesota’s Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication as a Teaching Specialist since January 2023.
