While in the station he learned that the Midwest is much more than a “flyover country”.
Carlo says it’s at CBS News 8 where he “grew up” as a reporter. He has covered so much including the Duke Cunningham scandal and the 2003 Wildfires. Cecchetto has learned from working alongside the best reporters in town and forged a commitment to accurate, balanced, and engaging reporting.
He began his first on-air job at KOBI, the NBC affiliate in Medford where he served as a weekday reporter and weekend anchor. Cecchetto wrote, shot, and edited his own stories and learned what deadline pressure was all about. The job led him to a position in Waco, Texas at KXXV, the ABC affiliate as an anchor before moving to San Diego.
Cecchetto is involved in many causes apart from being San Diego’s Number 1 rated newscast. From raising awareness about Domestic Violence, and fighting Alzheimer’s Disease, to apart being San Diego’s Number 1 rated newscast, Carlo has given time and energy to making a positive impact in San Diego and feels lucky to be able to help.
At the age of 12, Carlo moved to Southern California from the sunny, sandy beaches of Oahu. He has discovered a new passion for running, actually, he has completed quite a few Half-Marathons and Marathons. Carlo takes full advantage of San Diego’s beautiful scenery and incredible weather to train.
