She was lucky to have some of the most talented and inspiring professors whom she now considers her mentors. During her last year of graduate school, Carmen did an in-depth, multi-media piece on the controversies surrounding autism. She interviewed two of her friends who carried this disability. Her graduate project had a lasting impact on her as she was able to understand the challenges they endure on a regular basis. She also participated in several Autism 5 Walks/Runs throughout Connecticut to help raise money for several organizations. During her spare time, she enjoys going for runs outside, doing yoga, spending time with her mom, with whom she is very close, and catching up on the latest shows on Netflix.
