Before joining WALB-TV, Zelman served as a Fill-in Meteorologist at WPTV Newschannel 5 in West Palm Beach, Florida (this was from May 2005 to March 2007). There he covered all weather shifts – most especially during holidays. From April 2004 to April 2005, Zelman worked as the Weekend Meteorologist and General Assignment Reporter at ABC 24 WPTY in Memphis, Tennessee.
Earlier in the year 2004, Zelman spent January to March as the Weekend Meteorologist at CBS47 Fresno in Fresno, California – there he spent his time filling in. Between September 2001 and September 2003, Zelman was the Chief Meteorologist at KBAK-TV CBS 29 in Bakersfield, California – there he also handled weather reports for KERN Radio and served as the morning and noon meteorologist.
From April 1999 to June 2001, Zelman worked at WTXL ABC27 in Tallahassee, Florida, first as the Morning Meteorologist and General Assignment Reporter and also as the Weekend Meteorologist and Weather Reporter. Zelman began his television career at WJHG-TV in Panama City Beach, Florida – there he worked as the Weekend Meteorologist and Production Assistant from January 1997 to June 1999. He presented weekend weather forecasts and assisted with weekday production duties, including camera operation, audio, and teleprompter work.
Over the years of his career, Zelman has reported on several major weather events like Hurricanes Georges, Danny, Earl, Wilma, Katrina, Irma, Idalia, Michael, and Helene.
