Christy’s first journalism career was in Waco, Texas, where she worked for 8 months on weekends before moving to New Orleans and working at the Fox affiliate, WVUE for more than three years as the weekend meteorologist, later being promoted to do the 5 pm weekday weather. It was there that she became passionate about studying tropical weather and she was on the air as Hurricane Danny moved on all parts of Plaquemines parish in Southeast Louisiana (1997) and when Hurricane Georges (1998) endangered the New Orleans and coastal areas before making landfall near Biloxi, Mississippi.
