This made Geoge III an heir to his grandfather, King Geoge II, at the young age of 13 and he later became king nine years later. He ruled as king for the longest time in British history, that is from 1760 to 1820 when he died. However, King George III became mentally ill resulting in his eldest son, George IV becoming Prince Regent in the year 1811.
