Being a Meteorologist has been a passion for Cris since his boyhood in South Texas. As he experienced all types of weather events ranging from hurricanes to thunderstorms, he knew he had discovered his calling in studying and forecasting the weather.

Prior to joining the WPBF weather team, Martinez served as the severe weather meteorologist at WGCL Atlanta, where he was honored with the Associated Press award for Best Weather Reporting coverage of Hurricane Isaac. Before that, he worked at WOFL Orlando, Fla., as the morning meteorologist and traffic anchor. Cris has also worked at KIAH Houston, KENS San Antonio, KAVU Victoria, Texas, and Corpus Christi.

Besides being a meteorologist, Cris loves being active in society and has been affiliated with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the American Diabetes Association, and March of Dimes. Cris likes researching tornadoes and tropical weather in his spare time, interacting with South Florida audiences, and answering their weather questions.
