From August 2020 to August 2022, she worked as a Forecaster and Multimedia Journalist at 12NewsNow (KBMT-KJAC) in Beaumont, Texas. During college, she was the News Director for KJACK Radio and the Student Weather Director for NAZ Today, while also working as a news anchor, producer, and reporter. Also, she reported on sports for Northern Arizona University (from November of the year 2018 to May of the year 2020).
Her passion for storytelling started when she was very young. Ramos grew up inspired by her grandma who had been a news reporter for the L.A. Times and Chicano – that was during the Farm Workers’ Movement. Ramos’s grandma worked alongside Cesar Chavez and she wrote about the struggles and unfair treatment Latino farm workers faced. Wanting to carry on that legacy, Ramos chose to use storytelling to lift up voices that often go unheard.
While in Texas, Ramos helped keep people informed and ready during big weather events like the “Big Texas Freeze”, Hurricanes Delta, Laura, Ida, and Tropical Storm Nicholas. Also, she reported on the heartbreaking shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. Her strong storytelling earned her the title of 2022 Best On-air Talent at the Press Club of Southeast Texas Excellence in Media Awards.
