Lane also operated as a guest meteorologist for ABC’s Good Morning America and is a regularly featured speaker at weather conferences around the country. In 2016, he appeared in the nationally televised ABC 20/20 primetime special “In An Instant” about the 2013 tornado outbreak that impacted Moore, Oklahoma.
He also shared his own experiences covering the 2013 tornado outbreak that affected his hometown of Moore. The massive whirlwind struck his own neighborhood and he covered it live on air. Lane has been active in society’s recovery efforts ever since. His coverage of the Tornado Outbreak was appointed for an Emmy award.
Previously, Lane served at KTXS-TV in Abilene, TX as Chief Meteorologist, forecasting severe weather on the southern edge of “Tornado Alley.” While there, he was titled “Abilene’s Favorite Meteorologist” three years in a row.
