She happens to have spent about two years in Seoul, South Korea on a Fulbright grant. During her time there, she lived with a host family for about a year. There, she was working with North Korean defectors and it is here that she fell in love with kimchi and traveled extensively throughout Asia. Among the stops, she made include stops in Cambodia, Japan, New Zealand, and Thailand. Among her favorite foods to date still is Korean food. She states that the spicier, the better.
Before joining WCCO-TVk, she was working with KETV under Hearst Television where she was serving as a Breaking News Anchor/Reporter. Previously, she has also worked with KCCI-TV where she first served as a Newsroom Intern between August 2013 and October 2013. Later on, she went on to serve the station as a Reporter from October 2013 to July 2014.
Hassanzadeh has also previously worked with the U.S. Department of State as a Fulbright Korea Grantee in Seoul, South Korea. She undertook this role between July 2014 and August 2016. This is in addition to serving as a Student Ambassador at Drake University between August 2011 and February 2014.
She is very passionate about exploring and is one of her true passions. This could be in a new country, down the street, or in a new restaurant. She states that she loves keeping up with international headlines but she is most passionate about covering local stories that are happening down the street.
