He says that it was his father who piled the family in the station wagon and toured the damage after every severe weather strike. When he was young, Aydelott was impressed by the devastating destruction caused by severe weather. Up to now, he loves the fact that severe weather hit Tulsa with fearsome regularity, and he is there to save lives by providing alert information.
Throughout his career, James has covered blizzards, hurricanes, tornadoes, and many other weather events. Severe weather and Doppler radar expert, Aydelott has several years of experience with tornado chasing. Additionally, he is an instrument-rated pilot and likes flying his Cessna Cardinal in his spare time. Also, he enjoys cooking in his free time and has even been a celebrity chef in Tulsa’s own Chef Fest.
