Later on, he joined KETV in Omaha, Neb, where he served as a morning and weekend meteorologist.
In addition, while he worked at KETV, Calhoun co-produced a 30-minute severe weather safety and awareness program entilled, When the Siren Sounds. The program was presented with the Ak-Sar-Ben Gold Award from the Nebraska Broadcasters Association. Furthermore, it was nominated by the National Association of Television Program Executives for the Iris Award.
