Joe Schmit Volunteer Work

Schmit has been serving at the National Speakers Association-Minnesota Chapter (NSA-MN) as a board member since August 2018. He is also actively involved in the Minnesota Vikings Advisory Board and the PACER Advisory Board. Moreover, he has been helping young people for a long time, supporting many groups in the community. One group he cares a lot about is Big Brothers and Big Sisters. He used to be a member of the board and the president at Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Twin Cities. He collected more than $3 million for the group by organizing the “Joe Schmit Celebrity Golf Tournament”, which went on for 16 years. In the year 2000, Big Brothers and Big Sisters honored Schmit with the Jim Kelly Distinguished Service Award. In the year 2001, Schmit won the Odyssey Award for his dedication to helping and guiding young people. Additionally, in  2005, Joe got an award from the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF) for being a leader in the community. In the year 2018, Schmit won the Mike Givens Award for his work with MG Charities, a group trying to find a cure for brain cancer. He used to be the leader and a board member of the Fairway Foundation, and he has also given his time to help other groups that do good things for people.
