He joined the station in June 2003 as a reporter and then became the weekend evening anchor for six years. He later moved to weekday morning anchor in 2022. Following Mike Steven’s retirement, Meyer took over the On the Pennsylvania Road segment, looking for stories about the numerous interesting places and people throughout the area. Meyer has reported on numerous stories for WNEP Newswatch 16. He received a Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters (PAB) award for his reports on the devastating earthquake in Haiti that happened in 2010 with a group from central Pennsylvania.
Meyer also won another Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters award for wide on-air coverage of the 2011 historic flooding. Additionally, he was honored by the PAB for his feature reporting of a World War II veteran who was the feature of a best-selling novel on his heroic story from the war. Prior to joining WNEP, Meyer worked at WJAC-TV in Johnstown as a weekend anchor and reporter. While working at the station, he was key to the station’s coverage of the 9/11 attack on America. Meyer was the first reporter on-site, during the United Airlines Flight 93 crash that happened 20 miles from Johnstown in Somerset County. He followed the story widely for three weeks and for months that followed. His experience and accounts of the crash appear in some books about September 11 and its aftermath.
