Jonathan Kegges Career

Kegges is the weekend morning meteorologist for WKMG. His love and passion for meteorology began when he was at a very young age. His fear of thunderstorms when he was little made him curious to know what was going on when he frantically ran into his parents’ room. The 1993 Blizzard also sparked his interest in the weather.

Jonathan remembers when he was five years old his dad opened the garage door to almost two feet of snow. He started his career at KTTC-TV in Rochester, Minnesota where he served as a weekend meteorologist. He also served as a reporter. Kegges still misses the wind chills routinely dipping to 40 below and the snow being above the mailboxes for most of the winter while he enjoys being in a MUCH warmer climate now.

Kegges moved to Roanoke, Virginia in March 2015, where he worked at WSLS 10. While in the station he served as a weekend meteorologist. In July 2017 he was then promoted to morning and noon meteorologist. He covered three EF-3 tornadoes and deadly flooding brought on by Hurricanes Florence and Michael. From the American Meteorological Society Kegges earned the designation of Certified Broadcast Meteorologist in 2014.
