Wilder is a charismatic, ambitious, and Adventurous contestant of Survivor 44 which began on 1st March 2023. Additionally, he serves as a Podiatrist at Ankle & Foot Centers of Georgia. Previously, Dr. Wilder worked at Emory Healthcare as a Surgical/Clinical Foot and Ankle Fellow. Besides, Wilder was a Resident Physician at Allegheny Health for three years (Jul 2016-Jul 2019). He wants to be part of Survivor to prove to herself, and any other little gay Black boy or girl that you can do anything you put your mind to. In addition to that, he grew up with a medical condition, he was always told by numerous people and doctors that he couldn’t or wouldn’t be able to do things like other people.

He called bull crap and has completely astounded doctors with what he has achieved both professionally and personally. Never let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. In addition to that, Josh is a physician and meets a variety of new people on a daily basis. This will help her social game as he must get that individual to trust his diagnosis, explanation, and treatment plan in 20 minutes during an office visit. Moreover, he thinks he would play most like Avi. He had a great social game and was a beast at challenges.

Moreover, Wilder’s biggest inspiration is his mom, who helped him find who he is in the world. Another inspiration is his deceased kidney donor, Kristen Reagle. She died at the age of 15 from a drunk driver and her grandma donated all of her organs.  Additionally, he was a near-perfect match and received her kidney. Wilder lives every day for her and would not be where he is without her.

Furthermore, Josh thinks he would be the sole survivor because adversity and survival have been his life. He also knows how to communicate with many different people to establish trust and alliances to further his gameplay. Lastly, he is a very athletic individual who has only come from hard work and dedication to being healthy due to his illness. This means he can take any negative situation and flip it into a positive endeavor. This is required to outlast all the trials and tribulations of the game.

Wilder was born with a rare congenital deformity called Prune Belly Syndrome, or Eagle-Barrett Syndrome. The rare disorder gets its name due to the clinical appearance of the abdominal muscles which appear wrinkled and “Prune-like.” The abdominal muscles are weak, degenerated, or absent together. Due to his condition, Josh was required to have a kidney transplant at the age of nine years old. Josh is on “life-long immunosuppressant medication which inadvertently caused him to develop stomach cancer when he was 25.” He then “had to have a complete stomach removal because of cancer and relearn how to eat. Wilder is now cancer-free (Cancer survivor).
