After graduating from Tulane University, she went to Washington, D.C., and worked behind the scenes as a production assistant and field producer from WJLA. Later on, she decided to pursue reporting, got a job at WJET-TV, and was promoted to education reporter. Additionally, Julie was the sole local reporter to accompany a group of students to a national scholastic competition in Anchorage, Alaska.
