After leaving the station, Heath-Sands joined a FOX affiliate that already knew her through her work in Macon. By then, Heath-Sands had decided to move away from weather broadcasting – her first role in Albany combined news anchoring with community outreach responsibilities.
Heath-Sands says that her most memorable moment as a journalist was helping anchor the coverage of the burial and funeral of President Jimmy Carter. She describes it as an important experience because it allowed her and the WALB team to keep the community informed during a historic event.
Heath-Sands has enjoyed singing and performing since she was a child. Throughout her career, Heath-Sands has appeared on BET’s “Bobby Jones Gospel Hour” and performed with the Bob Cummings and Reflections Band. Also, she entertained audiences at Six Flags Over Georgia.
