Keith made a decision 8 years ago to return to his hometown to manage the newsroom where he commenced as essentially an intern, prior to making himself into one of the most respected writers and creators in the long legacy of WWL-TV writers and creators.
Under Keith’s administration, WWL-TV made bold investments in diversifying its individuals and its offerings and his fingerprints were all over almost every single special and investigation one sees. He smiled with pride when the station and anchor Charisse Gibson earned the first National Murrow Award for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for their “The Talk,” program and the same year the newsroom was honored with the National Murrow for digital presence in news. There have been a plethora of other Murrows, Emmys, and assorted privileges for the staff he assembled and developed.
Keith followed the reporter’s rule in his position as manager. He worked long, long hours and overlooked just as deeply about the 4:30 a.m. newscast as he did about the later shows and bigger projects. It was nothing to see him still at the office at eight or nine p.m. after having begun the day 12 hours earlier.
Keith is also a self-described snob when it comes to culture, music, food, drink, and clothing. He doesn’t define the finest by their price tags though, but by their quality and originality.
