Growing up in North Little Rock, Arkansas her interest in and love for news and reporting began while she was in her 6th-grade year of elementary school when the teachers hand-picked her to anchor on TV for the first time (hello mid-90s) their school news and announcement show. Also, Keristen’s best friend’s dad worked for the local newspaper, and therefore, she grew up spending weekend mornings at their home probably eavesdropping but definitely enjoying the political debates and current event conversations.
Keristen began her first job at 40/29 News in Fayetteville, Arkansas where she served as a reporter from October 2011 to October 2012. Afterward, she moved to KTBS 3 News in Shreveport, Louisiana where she served as an anchor from October 2012 to November 2017. While at the station, she began as an East Texas Bureau reporter and photographer and later worked her way up to a morning show anchor.
Later in November 2017 Holmes made the move of a lifetime to beautiful Northern California and joined ABC10 News in Sacramento where she served as an anchor till November 2020. Away from chasing stories, Keristen volunteers throughout the communities she serves. Holmes’s motto is “You can’t be what you can’t see.” Growing up in a community where opportunities for advancement seemed extremely limited, Keristen vowed to make sure that she was a tangible role model to other little girls who (like her younger self) might be looking for someone to look up to for encouragement.
