Laura is proud to anchor along with Russ Mitchell on “3News at 6” and “What’s Next” at 11 p.m. at a station with an incredible reputation that understands the importance of local news.

She commenced her journalism career by way of Elmira, New York, where she reported the morning news for WENY-TV. Following exploring the Twin Tiers, she repositioned to Jacksonville, Florida, where she proudly worked as a weekend reporter and anchor for TEGNA on First Coast News. Then to WAVY-TV in Hampton Roads, Virginia, where she anchored a few evening broadcasts and contributed to the takeoff of two new evening newscasts. Laura is beyond excited to return to TEGNA and center on what the company does best: hard-hitting journalism.

While in Virginia, Laura reported on the arrival of President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence on two different occasions and contributed to team coverage of a few high-profile stories including the tragic mass shooting in Virginia Beach. She also reported on wall-to-wall coverage during hurricanes and tornadoes in Virginia, North Carolina, and beyond. Laura’s coverage in 2019 of a young boy’s fight with cancer enabled him to find the life-saving liver he required— permitting Laura to experience first-hand the life-changing positive influence her work can have.

Born and raised in Massachusetts, Laura’s passion for music was woven throughout her girlhood — singing at a Boston Red Sox game with her school choir stays a cherished memory. Laura commenced creating kids’ stories at a young age as well, and this is definitely where her love for journalism and writing blossomed. In the 5th grade, Laura’s book entitled “Chicken Pox Explosion” was printed, and her first book signing remains one of her proudest moments. She carries on reading to kids along the East Coast and whether it is hard news copy or a fairy tale, Laura flourishes on telling a good story.

Besides being a journalist, Laura has forever been an advocate of children’s literacy, and over the last few years has acted on the board for the Alzheimer’s Association while also being suicide and drug addiction prevention, an advocate for AIDS awareness, and of course, childhood cancer awareness. She also acts on the Board of the Alzheimer’s Association. 

On one day off, you will catch her exploring Cleveland and its delightful and diverse communities. She is delighted to serve Northeast Ohio and looks ahead to getting to know the amazing people who call it home.
