Maria is a Meteorologist at FOX 26 KRIV Houston, Texas. Before becoming a Meteorologist, she worked for almost ten years in retail and hospitality management. Maria serves the station as a weekend morning meteorologist. Prior to joining the FOX 26 weather team, she worked for WGGB ABC40/FOX6 in Springfield, Massachusetts. During her working time there, she served as a Meteorologist and multimedia journalist for one year and a month from August 2020 to August 2021.
After discovering her purpose in 2016 she left her career and joined the University of Massachusetts in Lowell. For almost a year, she worked in retail and hospitality management prior to becoming a Meteorologist. She completed research at the National Weather Center. For 3 years, she was on the Boston Marathon Weather Team. She brings her talents down south to Texas after starting her career in Massachusetts which is close to her hometown. Furthermore, she likes being involved and active in her community. She is extremely passionate about underrepresented groups in STEM education as a minority female.
Apart from her journalism career, she was a TA in college and also taught kids. She is an active mentor who mentors the next generation of emerging scientists where she has completed her science experiments on-air. During her leisure time, she likes reading, traveling, hiking, running as well as gardening. In addition to that, she is an adventurer. Maria is very happy to work in one of the most culturally diverse cities in the U.S and continue her career.
