She commenced her broadcast profession in Midland/Odessa, forecasting the wild West Texas winds. Her next stop was a 3-year stint in tornado alley – Little Rock, Arkansas – where she consumed many hours reporting severe storms, tornadoes, floods, snowstorms, and inland tropical systems. She was assigned to assist with the reportage of Hurricane Florence in Charlotte during the 2018 Tropical Storm Season. Mariel’s current stop was in Austin, TX. It was there that she fine-tuned her Texas forecasting skills which consisted of the February snowstorm of 2021. As 2021 ended, Mariel knew it was time to come home.
She enjoys being busy and even more if it involves the outdoors. Her husband and she have two hyper Labrador Retrievers that enjoy being in the water and hiking. She loves cooking, trying new recipes, and binging the latest new shows.
