Prior to joining the station, he worked at WOI-TV in Ames, Iowa as a meteorologist from June 1994 to March 1997. Throughout his career as a meteorologist, Baden has covered weather across the country. He had a one-on-one account reporting live on the floods on July 22nd, where he was the first to report Interstate 43 closed because of 4 feet of water covering I-43 in Glendale. He also saw a police officer saving a pregnant mother and her child from a flooded car. The same flood carried a mattress across Port Washington Road right in front of his location.
Baden has reported on two hurricanes for WISN-TV. He witnessed the destruction caused by Hurricane Frances in 2004 from Cocoa Beach, Florida, and Hurricane Rita in Beaumont, Texas in 2005. He also watched the destruction first-hand of tornadoes in Hartford, Utica, Illinois, and Kansas City, Missouri. Baden’s love for weather began at a young age and is still there to date. His numerous awards include a Wisconsin Broadcaster’s Association’s best weathercast award in 2009, and a local and regional Emmy for flood coverage in 2008. Additionally, the WeatherWatch 12 team has been voted by Milwaukee Magazine to be the most accurate local forecast.
Baden has also received the seal of Certified Broadcast Meteorologist and the American Meteorological Society’s seal of approval. His passion for participating in charity work focuses on children. He served as an emcee for COA’s Oscar Night America for 12 years. Baden hosts many events for Children’s hospitals such as the Evening of Elegance and Sugarplum Luncheon. He has also hosted the Neighborhood House Invitational golf outing alongside sports director, Dan Needles since 2005. Additionally, he was an honorary captain of Discovery World’s Denis Sullivan, the schooner anchored in Milwaukee.
