Wright served in the United States Air Force – there he was part of the ‘Special Operations Tactical Air Control Party’. This role involved working closely with ground troops to coordinate airstrikes during missions. Unfortunately, his military career was cut short after just 2 years due to an injury. Despite having to leave the service earlier than planned, he says that the experience left a lasting impact on him.

It is an online store that sells knives and survival gear – he says that he built the company from scratch. He also says that the goal of the business is to create tools that could be trusted in the wild. He says that it was something he felt was missing in the products he had used. After seeing several store-bought knives fail during critical moments, he says that he decided it was time to make his own gear that would not let him down.
Wright also says that his background as a United States military veteran gave him a deep understanding of how important it is to have reliable tools in tough conditions. That mindset helped shape the kind of products “Extreme Instinct” offers – knives and survival gear made to hold up under extreme pressure. In an interview with TB Media Group that he did in the year 2022, Wright explained how the idea for the shop started. One of his knives snapped during use, and it made him think – why not create a knife he could truly depend on? While filming “Naked and Afraid XL” in the year 2017, Wright had to leave the show a bit after getting a serious flesh-eating bacteria infection called “necrotizing fasciitis”. He caught it during the challenge – it quickly spread to his other foot. The infection likely entered through a cut when he was fishing and moved river sediment. It became too dangerous for him to continue.
