Cavuto was diagnosed with cancer and immunocompromised with multiple sclerosis.  He continued with his work even though the doctors who had examined his scans and Magnetic resonance imaging(MRIs) told him that he should not be talking or walking. At that time, he had recently undergone cardiac surgery, so he was recovering. In October of 2021, he took a positive test for COVID-19. He got vaccinated because if he would not, he would be in a far more dire situation. Later on, he tested for COVID-19 again, and now this time round he was found to be having pneumonia. After he recovered from all that, he praised the effectiveness of vaccines and supported their use.
