Before joining the station, Walker worked at Independent News Network where he was the chief meteorologist from July 2008 to March 2013. Prior to that, he worked at KSWO TV in Lawton, Oklahoma, United States as a chief meteorologist from July 2005 to July 2008. While working at the station, he developed his severe weather philosophy in the heart of Tornado Alley. That was where he conducted a long-term continuous coverage of all types of severe storms.
Before that, Walker worked at KSAN-TV in San Angelo, Texas, United States as a chief meteorologist from May 2003 to June 2005. During his time there, he became the first chief meteorologist as he launched the station’s local weather department which had been doing news for only five years. He began working there when it was named KACB-NBC3 before taking the call letters KSAN in Fall, 2003. His passion for weather started when he experienced Arkansas weather which has left a mark in his memory. He remembers the knee-high snow that canceled school when he was a kid and dreadful tornado outbreaks on March 1, 1997, and January 21, 1999.
Walker holds the Broadcaster Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association and is a winner of the Weather Broadcast of the Year from the Oklahoma Broadcaster’s Association. He received two Emmys while working at KARK due to his weather coverage.
