While working at the station, he has covered major stories such as Pope Francis’ visit to Congress, Wisconsin U.S. Representative Paul Ryan’s election as House Speaker, and the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster. In 2019, Paoantonio traveled to Cleveland to report on the Republican National Convention and also covered the Milwaukee Bucks NBA championship run in 2021.
Additionally, Paoantonio was a member of the team that compiled the Emmy-nominated documentary called Honor Flight 50: A Mission of Thanks. Together with three colleagues from WISN 12, he traveled to Washington D.C. on the 50th Stars and Stripes Honor Flight trip. The four documented the experience as veterans from Vietnam, Korea, and WWII took a one-day trip free of charge to visit the memorials that were built in their honor. Paoantonio and his team later produced a television special with a one-hour duration that Paoantonio wrote and hosted. Together with the documentary, WISN-TV had a fundraising phone bank to send more veterans on a Stars and Stripes Honor Flight where they raised almost $60,000 to sponsor an entire plane and send almost 90 veterans on a future honor flight trip.
Prior to joining the station, he worked at WOLO-TV in Columbia, South Colorado as a news anchor, reporter, and photojournalist. His work has been recognized by several organizations like The Associated Press and the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association. Paoantonio was also part of the award-winning coverage, which earned the Chicago/Midwest Emmy awards and regional Edward R. Murrow.
