Gallivan later found passion in visual storytelling and therefore quit local radio and worked as a reporter at WHEC-TV and then later WROC-TV. In the year 1996, Gallivan returned to his home in Buffalo and began working at WGRZ-TV where he has been working as a Daybreak anchor, general assignment reporter, and weekend anchor.
His work as a reporter has earned him an Associated Press Award, 2 NYS Emmys, and a regional Edward R. Murrow Award. Gallivan is also a member of the Daybreak team that was awarded an Emmy for Best Morning Newscast. Besides all that, he was a two-sport athlete at Brockport, playing hockey and soccer.
