He started at WKRG-TV in 1990 and supported the launch of News 5 at 5:00 in 1996. From 2000-2007, he served as the lead news anchor and managing editor at the NBC affiliate in Mobile.
Peter commenced his profession as a television journalist at WKBT-TV in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He has also worked in St. Paul/Minneapolis, Minnesota at WFTC-TV. Before his return to WKRG in January 2013, Peter served as the Director of Marketing and Economic Development for Mobile County. In that position, he was active in the successful effort to recruit Airbus and other initiatives to Mobile. Over the years, Peter has earned dozens of honors from the Associated Press, the Press Club of Pensacola, the Mobile Press Club, Mobile Bay Monthly, the U.S. Department of Defense, the Alabama Medical Association, and Lagniappe.
Involved in the community, Peter has acted on the boards for the following organizations: Mobile Sports Authority, Economic Development Authority of Mobile, Baldwin, Washington, Escambia, and Clarke Counties, the Mobile Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau Marketing Committee, Matthews Park Athletic Association, Mobile National Babe Ruth (Trimmier Park), Mobile National Little League (Maitre Park), St. Paul’s Episcopal School Parent Council, the Mobile Sports Hall of Fame, the Junior League of Mobile’s Advisory Board, and the Ashland Place Pre-School Parent Council.
Peter has also volunteered his time to a few local charities. He was recently one of the local leaders participating in the American Cancer Society’s Real Men Wear Pink campaign. An avid sports lover, Peter loves playing baseball in Mobile’s men’s league and closely centers the exploits of the Minnesota Vikings. He is part of one of the oldest recorded fantasy football leagues in the nation – now in its 43rd year!
