Martin works at CNN based in Chicago where he serves as a contributor and a key member of CNN’s “Best Political Team on Television.”  Since joining the network in February 2007, he has hosted a variety of programs including the “What Would Jesus Really Do?” series and, most recently, a three-part series on the issues presidential candidates avoid addressing as Election Day nears. Additionally, he is a nationally syndicated columnist with Creators Syndicate.

In addition to that, Roland recently served as executive editor of the Chicago Defender, the nation’s largest black daily newspaper. Moreover, he is a commentator for TV One Cable Network and a senior analyst for the Tom Joyner Morning Show. Aside from that, Martin is the author of Listening to the Spirit Within: 50 Perspectives on Faith and Speak, Brother! A Black Man’s View of America. Martin also received several first-place awards from the Dallas-Fort Worth Association of Black Communicators. Aside from that, he received the top sports reporting award in 1997 from the National Association of Black Journalists and honors from the Houston Press Club. In addition to that, he is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, and the American Society of Newspaper Editors.
