He served as executive producer and co-host of Live with Kelly and Ryan and has also co-hosted media shows such as American Top 40, American Idol, and On Air with Ryan Seacrest. In 2006, he became the executive producer and co-host of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.

Seacrest signed a deal with NBCUniversal in April 2012 to expand his on-air role beyond E! to NBC. Seacrest left E! in Sptember 2012 and was replaced by Terrence J. It was announced on 1st May 2017 that he would join Kelly Ripa serving as a host of Live with Kelly and Ryan as her new permanent executive producer and co-host. In January 2004 he became the new host of American Top 40, a radio program created and formerly hosted by Casey Kasem and syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks. In February 2004, he started hosting the KIIS-FM morning show which formerly hosted by Rick Dees. Seacrest has been broadcasting the show, On Air With Ryan Seacrest since 2017, from a studio at WABC-TV in New York. He renewed his contract with iHeartMedia in September 2021 that will end in 2025.
