Wright serves as a Sports Director and 4 pm Anchor. He leads the Department of Sports at WPBF 25 and focuses on celebrating local teams and athletes in the community. This is Shayne’s second time as a Sports Director during his profession.

Before joining WPBF 25 News as a Weekend News Anchor, Shayne was a sports director in his previous market for 2 years and 11 months ( Jul 2013 – May 2016) before switching to news. Prior to that, he served as a Weekend Sports Anchor at WALB-TV in Albany, Georgia for 3 years and 1 month ( From Jul 2010 -Jul 2013). Shayne has also worked at NBC6 for 3 years and 7 months (from Jan 2007 – Jul 2010) as a Videographer and Sports Journalist.

After completing high school, he became part of the Air Force and was stationed at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, LA. Following 4 years of active commitment and one tour in Iraq, he left the Air Force and started pursuing his television career.

Shayne’s job in the industry has been so good and has not gone unrecognized. As such, he has received multiple awards as a sports journalist, including an AP award for “Best Sportscast.” Shayne has also been honored with the Georgia Association of Broadcasting award for “Best Sports Feature Story.”

Besides being a journalist, Shayne has an unwavering love for children and has spent time with dozens of associations geared toward uplifting youths. He has acted as a volunteer, emcee, and guest speaker for many community events. In 2017, he was honored with the “Hero of the Heart” Award for Community Service by the nonprofit organization G.E.Y.A. (Giving Education Your All).
