She then relocated to KWTV in Oklahoma City working as a news reporter, producer, and anchor, covering US military problems affecting Tinker Air Force Base (she served as a United States Army Reservist for seven years). She also worked in radio as a news director at KVSP in Oklahoma City.
Shon arrived at WDIV in Detroit working as a morning anchor and reporter covering local news. While in Detroit, she operated as a spokesperson for the American Cancer Society’s Southwest Michigan Division, which led her to host a two-hour special on breast cancer awareness.
