In 1999 Sager revealed on Eyewitness News that she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 30 years. Additionally, in the year 2011, she found out that she had another cancer diagnosis. The doctor had found pre-invasive Ovarian cancer in the lining of her fallopian tubes. Stacey was also diagnosed with BRCA1, this is a genetic mutation that increases the risk of breast cancer and ovarian cancer. Moreover, she decided again to take viewers through her journey of surgery and the decisions that followed. She also advised women to get screened for genetic mutations that cause this cancer. Stacey made it a habit to encourage women to get out and get screened after her full recovery.
