Since joining the station, she has landed many high-profile interviews like Stacey Abrams, Vice President Mike Pence, local Congresswoman Val Demings, and Presidential Candidate Joe Biden (just before the presidential election). Knowles feels proud of her work in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death on the Project Community: Crusade for Change news documentary. The work earned an Edward R. Murrow award in 2021 which is her second such award. Another one of her highlights is her short series highlighting COVID-19’s effects on local prisons and their families at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.
Before joining WESH 2, Knowles worked at CBS 4 News in Miami/Fort Lauderdale as a weekday morning anchor from June 2012 to February 2015. While at the station, she covered a number of high-profile national stories like the release of Alan Gross, the 2014 Florida Gubernatorial debate between Gov. Charlie Crist and Gov. Rick Scott, and the US’s intent to normalize US/Cuba relations as well as the George Zimmerman trial. After the trial ended, Knowles got the first interview with Rachel Jeantel, the girl who was on the phone with Trayvon Martin the night he died. Prior to that, she worked at KSLA News 12 in Shreveport, Lousiana as a weekday morning and noon anchor and reporter from March 2010 to May 2012. Before that, Knowles worked at WPEC CBS 12 as a general assignment reporter from June 2009 to March 2010.
Knowles enjoys hosting and moderating events ranging from the African American Chamber of Commerce Eagle Awards to The Women’s Summit on Intersectionality.
