Lewis serves at WMBB News 13 as a news director and morning news anchor. He was previously anchoring the evening newscasts at 5 PM, 9 PM, and 10 PM. After finishing college, Lewis started working at WMBB-TV as a weekend news reporter and anchor – that was on January 20, 1980. Later on Lewis moved into an advertising account executive role at the same station. In May of the year 1983, Lewis relocated to the Miami–Fort Lauderdale area to sell medical products for a number of large Fortune 500 companies.
Lewis never lost his love for broadcasting – he went back to Panama City in the year 1989 for a 2nd time at WMBB-TV. He began in a junior role and he slowly moved up until he became the weeknight news anchor, assistant news director, and executive producer. Lewis led the evening news for 7 years – he then left in the year 2001 to help the Panhandle Area Educational Consortium in Chipley create a new satellite channel. While working at the Florida Education Channel, Lewis earned a national Telly Award – it was for a special program on the September 11, 2001 attacks that he produced, wrote, and presented himself.
Lewis was with the local NBC station from the year 2001 to the year 2014. There he served first as executive producer and weeknight news anchor – he later as news director (that was the year from 2005 to the year 2010). In October of the year 2014, Lewis left to start his own marketing and advertising company.
Lewis is a TV news reporter with awards who has spent his whole working life in the Panama City area. He became interested in news work when he was still in school. Lewis worked on the yearbook at Bay High School, helped with the student paper at Mowat Junior High, and he later edited the “Gull’s Cry” paper. This was all while he was still studying at Gulf Coast State College. Lewis says that his very first paid journalism job was writing sports stories part-time for The News Herald. Also, Lewis says that what matters most to him is taking part in many community drives through the years that helped collect millions of dollars for education, health, and charity groups.
