In addition to his roles at WFTX, he is also a self-employed communications specialist, TV Host, and Brand Ambassador since December 2017.

Previously from June 2004 to June 2017, he worked at WPLG based in Miami, Florida where he served as the Chief Meteorologist delivering forecasts on the 5 pm, 6 pm, and 11 pm news. He previously worked at WRBL based in Columbus, Georgia where he served as a morning meteorologist from April 2002 to June 2004.

Since he started his journalism career, he has won several awards and honors including 9 Emmy Awards. He is also the owner of the Seal of Approval of the American Meteorological Society and in 2010, he was upgraded to the CBM (Certified Broadcast Meteorologist). Trent alongside Max Mayfield, a hurricane specialist/former Director of the National Hurricane Center received an Emmy Award in 2010 for their hour-long special, “Hurricane House Calls.” He has also covered a ton of extreme weather events including Hurricanes, forest fires, snow storms, and so much more.
