Prior to joining the station, he worked at WMDT-TV in Salisbury, Maryland as a weekend meteorologist and bilingual web producer for five years. While working there, Garcia encountered many severe winter and tropical weather events. One of his biggest moments was covering the Bridgeville tornado in April 2023, which ended up being the second biggest tornado in Delaware, and the Blizzard of late January 2022. Before that, Garcia worked at WBKB-TV in Alpena, Michigan as a chief meteorologist for one-and-a-half years.
During his time there, he forecasted intense snowstorms, rain events, many rain and wind events, and record temperatures. Prior to that, Garcia completed his first internship at WTVJ in Miramar, Florida, and the second at the National Weather Service in Miami, Florida, where he launched weather balloons and took weather observations. His love for meteorology began when he was in first grade and has continued growing ever since especially in tropical weather. Garcia was an active member of the North Florida Chapter of the American Meteorological Society. He forecasted a student-run 30-minute weeknight weather show for FSU Weather on campus.
