Blandin works as a news reporter on ABC 15. He has nearly 3 decades of news experience and also experience with the United States Department of Justice. Blandin holds an Emmy Award nomination and a Regional Edward R. Murrow award. Previously, he worked at the DOJ, and he reported at KMOV-TV in St. Louis, Missouri for more than three years.

After Blandin watched a Chicago cover shooting in his Garfield Park neighborhood, he was captivated by television news. During his childhood age, he loved riding the ‘L’ to visit all of the city’s TV stations, chasing news trucks, and talking to people in line as they visited ‘Jenny Jones and ‘Jerry Springer shows that were taped at NBC Tower. In 1992, the ‘news bug’ bit Blandin and hasn’t left him since.

When Blandin moved to Greenville, South Carolina in 1993, his passion for news grew. When he was in Greenville, SC during high school, he worked at WYFF-TV  behind the scenes. He received an honorable discharge as a Corporal in 1998 when he joined the United States Marine Corps. From 1999 to 2002 at WRC-TV in Washington, DC, Blandin worked as a weekend assignment editor and a production assistant. In Baltimore, MD, at WBAL-TV he worked as an assignment editor, from 2002 to 2004.

In the year 2004, he became a reporter at WCAV-TV in Charlottesville, Virginia. He then left Virginia in 2007 and went to WCIV-TV in Charleston, South Carolina to report.

He, later on, moved to Huntsville, Alabama to report for WHNT-TV  in December 2008. Blandin stayed for almost six decades before he moved to Birmingham to anchor and report at ABC 33/40. Furthermore, he covered the deadly 2015 shooting at the armed forces recruiting office in Chattanooga, and the deadly 2015 Emanuel A.M.E. Church shooting in Charleston. He also managed to cover Hurricane Joaquin in 2015, Hurricane Matthew in 2016, the Branson Duck Boat Tragedy in 2018, St. Louis protests in 2017.

Blandin earned four Emmy nominations, two Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, and also several awards from the Associated Press. On the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Rocky Mountain Southwest Board, he serves as the Arts & Entertainment Committee Co-chair for the National Association of Black Journalists and he is also a member of the Arizona Association of Black Journalists and the Screen Actor’s Guild.
