He also appeared in the A&E Network series The Beast from 2008 to 2009 portraying Dennis. In 2010, Minoso played the role of Hector Aquilar in the television series Shameless. He later appeared in the drama series The Chicago Code which aired from 2010 to 2011 as Officer Sanchez . Minoso played the role of Moco Ruiz in the television series Boss from 2011 to 2012. In 2011 he also appeared in the Sam Witwer drama The Return of Joe Rich portraying Bernard.

Minosos played the role of Joe Cruz in the NBC series Chicago Fire in 2012 and Chicago P.D. in 2013. He also appeared in the hit action movie Man of Steel where he played the role of a Metropolis Policeman which aired in 2013. Before venturing into television and film, he worked a lot in the theatre. He worked in the largest Latino theater company in the Midwest called Chicago’s Teatro Vista.

Cruz works as a firefighter on squad 3 and he is also a former Truck 81 driver. An active shooting happens where 2 men are injured and the firehouse is called and one of the injured men is his brother Leon. He takes him to hospital and offers to pick him up when he is released but Leon signs out of the hospital himself.

Later, Cruz makes a deal with Flaco the gang leader to get his brother out of the gang but Flaco wants a $ 10,000 buyout which Cruz does not agree to give him. A fire incident happens at an apartment, and Cruz finds Flaco there crying for help. He takes a minute then decides to leave Flaco to die and inform everyone that the building is clear so that he can save Leon from the gang. After that, he feels guilty because of what he did and confesses to Mathew Casey but he does not want to hear about it. Casey tells him to either report to the police or pretend it did not happen.

There has been speculations about Minoso leaving the show because in season 12 episode 2, there was a preview showing Cruz going to head to head with Lieutenant Kelly Severide.
