While he was in high school, he hosted his music show on the campus radio station. He was also the play-by-play voice for the school’s football games. When he joined college, Shainman broadcasted the school’s athletic events from baseball to football. Throughout his career as a journalist, he has received a number of awards and has reported on big stories in South Florida from the field and the anchor desk. Some of the stories include the Presidential election of 2000, the hurricanes that roared ashore in 2004 and 2005, and the aftermath of the anthrax attacks. Shainman has also played a part in the community, hosting several charity events for groups like the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Hearts and Hope, and Children’s Place at HomeSafe.
