Allen came to the Atlanta News First News Team in July of 2021 as a General Assignment Reporter and Breaking News Anchor. Prior to joining WGCL, Allen worked as a General Assignment Reporter for WYFF News 4, the NBC affiliate in Greenville, South Carolina, where he served for two years.
During his time with WYFF, Allen covered a number of stories including the fight to lower violent crime rates across Anderson County, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on African Americans across South Carolina, the death of James “Radio” Kennedy, Joe Biden’s campaign trail through the Upstate, the aftermath of the 2016 Townville Elementary School fatal shooting, the impact of George Floyd’s death on the AME Church and secured the only interview with the parents of the late Chadwick Boseman about his fight with colon cancer and subsequent passing.
Allen also worked with CNN on the 2016 Presidential Campaign and helped in the Republican and Democratic Town Halls in Columbia, South Carolina, in 2016 February while at UofSC.While in New York, Allen reported the rising homeless rates within the town, as well as the introduction of congestion pricing in Manhattan.
