Bill Ritter is an American Emmy Award-winning journalist and television news anchor working for WABC-TV in New York City serving as a news anchor. He joined the station in June 1998 working as a weekend anchor while working full-time from Monday to Friday for ABC News. Additionally, he also works for 20/20 as a correspondent.

Prior, he was a reporter and an editor for the San Diego Business Journal from June 1980 to January 1984 and before that, he had served as a business editor of the San Diego County edition of The Los Angeles Times from February 1984 to January 1987. Bill kicked off his career as a print journalist in 1972.
Bill also served as a Fox Network nationally syndicated show Entertainment Daily Journal(E.D.J.) reporter from August 1991 to February 1992. He later served at KTTV-TV(fox Television)in Los Angeles as an investigative reporter. Bill was an anchor for the station’s Gulf War coverage.
Ritter has served ABC News and Eyewitness News since 1992 whereby he covered important and big events. In June 1998, Bill joined ABC as founding co-host of “Good Morning America/Sunday working full-time Monday to Friday for ABC News and 20/20 as a correspondent and anchoring on weekends. In October 1999, Bill started anchoring the 11 pm news taking over from Bill Beutel the great then in February 2001, he added the 6 pm newscast.
Bill was also a board member of a non-profit drug education and prevention organization in San Diego from 1980, then he became the chairman till 1990. From 1984 to 1985, he served at San Diego University Business School, on the advisory board.
