The original radio “Gunsmoke” is his favorite radio drama. He explains that the sound effects, stories, and acting hold up really well. He further explains that sixty years later, the material is still stunning. His favorite radio comedy is “Vic and Sade.” This is a comedy soap opera way ahead of its time.

Shrader explains that Pilot Mitch Breese, photographer Keith Baker, and followed the coast all the way to Beaufort where they stopped for fuel. He explains that the airport had no electricity but they offered us a pack of nabs for lunch. This was as welcome as an Angus Barn sirloin. They later headed up to Ocracoke to look at the damage. These are the outer bands that were still whipping the Outer Banks.
